Balustrades can be an impressive interior feature for any commercial building and there is no vision for a balustrade that D. Wilson can’t manufacture and install including metal balustrade, glass balustrade or timber balustrades to any specification. We were delighted that Canary Wharf Contractors utilised our vast experience to design, manufacture and install various types of feature balustrades that were functional and enhanced the aesthetics of this prestigious London Public Transport project.

What did we do?
As architectural metalwork specialists, D Wilson designed bespoke balustrades to match with the staircase glass and steel staircase designs. The dockside stainless steel balustrades were designed with bespoke profiled balusters, straining wires and a profiled timber handrail. The mild steel feature has an arked dockside balustrade with formed oval handrail. The external stainless steel staircase balustrade consists of profiled balusters with straining wire and a handrail. The internal stainless steel staircase balustrade needed a bespoke staircase design to flow through the station with box station balusters, a handrail on spigots with integral lighting on the underside and a trimmed structural staircase glass balustrade. The bespoke staircase itself was constructed from stainless steel stringers, glass treads and a structural glass balustrade capped with tubular handrail. The bespoke staircase design has a stainless steel satin polished in-house by our specialists. The timber handrails are timber french polished and our architectural metalwork expertise was used for finish the staircase design with mild steel galvanised and powder coated.
